Christmas Worship

Make plans to join us in worship this Christmas

Keeping a Holy Advent

As we enter this holy season of expectation and preparation…busy-ness can fill up our minds and hearts. We hope you can enter into the expansiveness of Advent’s hopeful expectation, even in midst of all that fills our days this time of year.

A Future with Hope

The history of the people of God contains numerous examples of shared hardship and ordeal.

Giving Tree 2021

Sacred Time

Sacred Time – An Invitation from the Office of the Bishop
We in the Office of the Bishop care deeply about your well-being, especially after this intense season of challenges and difficulties. As a sign of our care, we are gifting Sacred Time to you and everyone in our synod. Arranged by LEAD, Sacred Time is an online, international movement of people who follow Jesus or are curious about Jesus, and it is built around four, weekly, one-hour gatherings that allow each person the opportunity for Biblical reflection, conversation, and prayer in community with others.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Join TENT and our community partners this Saturday November 20th 2021 to observe our second virtual Transgender Day of Remembrance(TDOR).

Turkey Drive 2021

*UPDATE* We collected $1,670, enough to provide meals for more than 66 families. Thank you!
Each year we find that families in our neighborhood need assistance with their holiday meals. Peace is raising money throughout October to supply meals to those in need through our partnership with Hill Country Community Ministries (HCCM).

Here’s your chance to dive deep into the finances of the congregation and to ask any questions that you might have before the congregational meeting on November 14. The Peace finance team will be available to discuss the council’s approved ministry plan for 2022 and the outlook for 2021 and beyond. We hope you can join us Sunday Oct 17 at 1:00 pm on Zoom.

On site worship

Numbers of COVID hospitalizations continue to decline, and we remain in Stage 4 level safety guidelines (as of this writing). We give thanks for lower infection and hospitalization rates in our community…as we also continue to keep our health care and other essential workers, and students and teachers in prayer. Those who wish are invited to worship in person on Sundays now. We will continue to live stream worship online for those who wish to continue connecting that way.

New Program Year 2021

The Program Year Begins! Here are the Faith Formation Connections coming up:

God’s Work. Our Hands. Sept 12

God’s Work. Our Hands. Sunday Sept 12, 1-3 pm
This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.
Service has always been at the core of Peace Lutheran Church and it does not stop now that things in the world are scary due to the pandemic. We want to serve while keeping ourselves and those we are serving safe.

Weekly Connections Update

Here are some of the ways to stay connected with Peace throughout the week:

Weekly Communion Resumes 8/22

Beginning this Sunday and going through October, weekly communion will be part of our Sunday morning live stream. This means that if you tune in live on Sunday morning, communion will be at the end of worship…no need to switch to a different connection to participate.

Backpack Blessing 8/22

Students, teachers, and children of God of all ages are invited to bring a bag or backpack to worship this Sunday for a special blessing as the school year begins. We will have a few special moments in worship on Sunday, August 22, to mark this transition of the seasons.

MLF Drivers Needed

Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF) delivers meals to persons experiencing homelessness and others in our community who may be food insecure. Those who have served in this ministry have found it to be rewarding and enjoyable. Read what Judy Olson had to say here.

Dungeons and Dragons and Dads

Join us for Dungeons and Dragons Tuesdays at 7 pm on Zoom!
If you would like to join you will need a filled out Character Sheet and your imagination! Contact us to get the zoom link or if you have any questions!

School Supply Drive

THANK YOU! School has started and because of your generosity many children have the supplies they need to succeed. Peace was able to supply a bag of supplies and over $650 to the RRISD Partners in Education. With their bulk buying power this is more than enough to supply the needs for one school.

Preschool suspends operations

A number of circumstances have come together to invite extensive discernment on the part of the Peace Preschool Board about next steps for our school.

In-person worship suspended

Current Pandemic Response at Peace

In light of the Austin area’s return to stage 5 precautions, the Regathering Task Force has made the following protocol updates, which have been reviewed and approved by the council.

Summer Worship Update

n light of the resurgence in local COVID cases, we invite the Peace community to connect to worship online on Sunday morning here or on our Facebook page or our YouTube channel. Worship will be livestreamed at 10 am on Sunday morning, and will also be available online later, if you need to join at another time. We will resume communion on August 22.

Communion Postponed

In response to the current increases in Covid cases in Travis and Williamson counties, and out of an abundance of caution, the celebration of communion originally scheduled for this coming Sunday (July 25) is postponed to a later date.

Pressure: Adapting and responding to this phase of the pandemic

Over the last 18 months, COVID-19 has turned (and continues to turn) our lives upside-down and has made things unpredictable, uncontrollable, and unprecedented. We are no longer just anxious about the virus itself, but the process of resuming pre-pandemic activities, the impact on the economy, our jobs, and the disruption of our daily routines as we transition to a new phase in the pandemic. The natural human response to losing our sense of control is stress, which primes us to be on high alert and to find a quick fix.
