God’s Work, Our Hands – ELCA Day of Service – Sunday September 8
The Congregational & Community Care Board will be sponsoring three (3) volunteer opportunities for Peace members and friends. In order to assess interest, we will have volunteer sign-up sheets at Rally Day on August 18. You can also indicate interest by email. You can volunteer for more than one activity!
Opportunity 1: Community First! Village- Saturday, Sept 7, 8 AM – 11 am – Work outdoors – Genesis Gardens, landscaping at Neighbor (residents) homes, etc. Note: Due to heat, volunteer work starts at 8 AM.
Opportunity 2: Peace Lutheran Church – Sunday, Sept 8 – after service – Assemble bags of hygiene items, socks, underwear, & t-shirts to be distributed on the Mobile Loaves & Fishes Food Truck on Peace’s monthly run.
Opportunity 3: Community First! Village-Monday, Sept 9, Morning Time TBA – volunteer in the Art House and help make the ceramic tiny houses that are sold in the Gift Shop (maximum 12 people).

The new program year is here! This year, the children’s circle will meet weekly at 9:30 AM, before worship. Middle school students are invited to join our confirmation cohort (email Pastor Carolyn for information). We also anticipate having at least 2 post-worship learning and fellowship events for adults each month. The schedule will be announced soon, as we gather feedback. Feel free to share your input using the Spiritual Development Survey here.

We are so excited for the return of Vacation Bible School this year at Peace. VBS will be June 10-23, 2023, 9am-12pm. Camp staff from Lutherhill will lead us in a great week about prayer with all the things you love about VBS: friends, songs, crafts, and games. VBS is open to kids who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Our registration fee is flexible. Space is limited, so register soon to reserve your slots. Register now!

Summer Camps with Cross Trails Ministry
It’s that time of year…to start thinking about summer camp opportunities with Cross Trails Ministry! Based in the Hill Country of southwestern Texas, Cross Trails Ministry offers summer camp and retreats to thousands each year. Two sites are at the heart of this ministry, Lutheran Camp Chrysalis near Kerrville and Ebert Ranch Camp near Harper.

– The circle of Godly Play & Big Church are coming closer to each other. Our space and stories for forming faith with children are coming into the embrace of our big church space for a time. This will allow folks of all generations to be formed by our stories and the presence of children.

As we prepare for a new program year, we invite everyone to a special worship service on August 14 giving thanks for the many ministry programs of Peace. Our worship service this Sunday will be familiar, but our space will be a bit different…as we sit “family style” and have table centerpieces celebrating our faith family’s many ways of sharing God’s love with the world.
