Worship
Celebrations

Peace Lutheran Church gathers together each Sunday for worship and learning.  We are guided by a specific calendar that follows the life and ministry of Jesus.

In Advent (end of November through December 23) we are filled with anticipation at the coming of the child of Bethlehem.  We regularly have special programs and concerts.

In Christmas (December 24 – January 5) we remember the birth of Jesus and celebrate that gift.  We offer various worship services on Christmas Eve and throughout the season.

In Epiphany (January 6 – Tuesday before Lent) we celebrate Christ as the light to all the world.

In Lent (Ash Wednesday – through Holy Week) we begin our journey toward resurrection.  We remember Jesus’ time in the wilderness through contemplation and prayer.  We host a community potluck meal and worship on Wednesday evenings in Lent.

In Holy Week (Palm Sunday – Easter Saturday) we remember the events leading to the Jesus’ death on a cross.  We gather in the evenings on Maundy Thursday to remember Jesus’ commandment of the Last Supper, on Good Friday to remember Jesus’ passion and death and Easter Saturday and the Great Vigil.  At the Easter Vigil we hear and sing the story of salvation, affirm our baptismal promises and celebrate the resurrection.  On Easter Day with shouts of “Alleluia” we celebrate in worship and fellowship the love that will never let us go – a love that is stronger than death.  This festival day of worship is a pinnacle event in the life of the church.

In Pentecost (fifty days after Easter through the end of November) we celebrate the Holy Spirit’s gift of grace and power in the world.  Throughout the summer months we hear bible stories about Jesus’ ministry of preaching, healing and loving.

On the Sunday nearest October 31, we celebrate the Reformation and honor our Lutheran heritage, remembering Martin Luther and the continual reforming of the church.

On the Sunday nearest November 1, we celebrate All Saints’, a day to remember the lives of all of God’s people, living and dead.

Throughout the year on Sunday mornings, we suspend normal Sunday morning programming and gather as a congregation of all ages with food, socializing and special activities.   All are welcome!
