What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is a response to Jesus' command "to love one another as I have loved you."
Stephen Ministry is a systematic program of lay Christian caregiving.
Stephen Ministry is a special ministry in which one Christian reaches out to another in time of need.
Stephen Ministry is comprised of ongoing helping relationships between caregivers and care receivers, with the characteristics of scheduled regularity, dependability and confidentiality.


What is a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Ministers are NOT professional psychologists, counselors, social workers, or experts in law, medicine, or church doctrine.
Stephen Ministers are lay men and lay women from our congregation who have received special intensive training in helping skills.
Stephen Ministers are dedicated Christians, commissioned by our Church to provide confidential, in-depth caring.

 

Stephen Ministers Provide Effective Care to Persons Who Are:

Facing life-changing situations,
Grieving the loss of a loved one,
Depressed,
Hospitalized,
Terminally ill and their families,
Experiencing job loss or financial crisis,
Separated or divorced,
Experiencing childbirth or adoption,
Struggling with their faith in God, or
Experiencing other types of crises.
